Phase III Student Center
Imagine this—a 16,400-square-foot student center with two junior-high-sized playing courts, a theatrical stage, and a food preparation area for cafeteria service. This new on-campus facility will soon be a reality for the MTCES community. See below for pictures of the May 5th, 2006 groundbreaking and continue to check this site for future student center developments!
SFA Architects, Inc. of Cincinnati has designed the Phase III floor plan. This organization was also responsible for the Phase II design. MTCES has awarded the construction contract to Bach Building Services of Fairfield. Bach Building Services has constructed the present MTCES facility.
The student center has the following potential uses:
- Furthering the school’s commitment to the arts
- The stage incorporated into the design enhances Gifted & Talented program theatrical performances and Christmas program plays, music classes, band practices and performances, Glee Club’s Halloween program and spring concert, and Blue and Gold
- Enhancing the school’s commitment to physical education
- A new gymnasium provides appropriate space for P.E. classes, CYO sports practices and games, and sports tournaments
- Strengthening the school community
- A new gymnasium provides appropriate space for school masses, Latchkey, a cafeteria, and an area for fundraisers and intermediate/junior high weekend activities
The center also offers MTCES the following financial benefits:
- Significant savings on practice rental facilities for sports teams (without a gymnasium, Boosters could potentially spend over $45,000 in rental fees).
- Additional revenue from sports tournament ticket and concession sales
- Ability to host enhanced fundraising events such as bingo events, Monte Carlo nights, and summer festivals (summer festivals at St. Susanna and St. Max generate $90,000-$150,000 profit)
Plus, the construction of a gymnasium brings MTCES one step closer to becoming a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. It has been a long-term goal of MTCES to achieve Blue Ribbon status.
All in all, a new student center allows MTCES to further its commitment to academic excellence and faith formation while placing the school on the path to offering a full K-8 program for 440 students by the year 2009-2010.
